Digital Technology Infrastructure in the Strategy

The digital technologies that serve as the foundation for an organization's information technology and operations are referred to as its digital infrastructure.

At Belmont Primary as previously stated we have a recently updated technology infrastructure.

We also have enough computers for each student in the school to work independently. Although internet connectivity is available across the school, the internet speed is merely modest.

Digital safety, security, and online safety will be covered in professional development courses at the school, and technical assistance will be provided with some of the digital tools that will be implemented.

Data security and internet safety are also included in the national curriculum for information technology, and these sessions will be held with pupils at the appropriate classes.

In terms of storage, the ministry provides limitless cloud storage via Google Suites, which we will also use.

One financial component will be the acquisition of technical resources required to implement our digital plan. We will seek assistance from private investors, fundraising, and the Parent Teachers Association to cover this expenditure.

Infrastructure, Hardware, Technical Support and Software at Belmont Primary School have made a substantial difference in the commitment to technology in the classroom.

We currently have an island-wide data network in place that services all Barbados schools. Our internet service, on the other hand, is either Ethernet or Wireless Access Point connected. This investment in infrastructure and equipment is constantly being renewed, as new equipment is purchased and existing equipment is reconditioned and reassigned to an appropriate place. This allows us to target needs across our school and maximize the value of our equipment.

In 2015 the school was given a Technology Lab.

Our mission includes looking at new ways to better our professional development and communication through the use of resources like remote learning, video conferencing, online education, and blogging. Professional learning can be delivered in a variety of methods, depending on the subject, such as face-to-face, remote video conferencing, online self-paced learning, and online resource libraries.

The usage of media presentation technology has proven to be quite beneficial to Belmont Primary School. Our goal is to uncover tools that will allow all classrooms to use TVs and large-screen monitors to present student work and projects, as well as teacher-led classes. As obsolete projectors and document cameras fail, resources for replacing these projection systems should be identified.

Maintaining a high level of technical support will be critical to meeting the plan's objectives. As the use of hardware and software grows, the ITC will analyze support levels and future needs and convey these to the Principal.

LEARNING RESOURCES

Incorporate technology into every classroom and curricular area. Regularly review bandwidth use and expand bandwidth to match school needs.

HARDWARE

Maintain and upgrade technology resources in a cost-effective and timely manner. Investigate and implement best practices for video conferencing to enable remote learning. Monitor and improve hardware security processes. Monitor and make it easier to replace old equipment.

SOFTWARE

Available software components supported by the School include:

Microsoft Office                                Quick School

Google Apps                                       Dyknow Classroom

Brain-Pop                                            OpenEmis

TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Maintain an excellent level of technical support. Monitor and evaluate technology support via PLC forums to assess process and/or people requirements. Cross-train staff members so that several employees can respond to all support needs.
